should I upgrade to Windows XP?
I have a dual-boot system with XP on another partition, and the card reader works fine there. It still mis-identifies it as a 9-in-one reader, but it works. I can always boot into XP to transfer pix from my SD card, but that's a hassle. And I have to remember to unplug the reader before booting back to Vista.

Since it didn't seem to be responding, I manually re-started it and it did not go to the boot selection screen. It went directly to XP Pro and has ever since. Also, I see an addidional drive ("D") in XP's My Computer, presumably Vista. What do I need to do to get Vista back and dual boot?

I don't need to. I did that back in 2000 with Windows 2000 Advanced Server and compared it to Mandrake 7.2. I've been with Linux ever since. What Mrs. Phist _wants_, because she sees it's what is _productive_, is a dual boot Linux/XP machine. The only reason she wants XP is so she can play her games.

Vista isn't THAT slow
Went back to XP Pro. * Can't install low level drivers that are not digitally signed on Vista x64. There used to be workarounds but they have stopped working since the recent updates. Not sure how much of a problem that might be to me. I'd have to research my hardware etc. Looks like I can wait a little longer.

1. You don't uninstall an operating system. You can do: a. A clean install with Ultimate, in which case nothing of XP will be left. b. A dual-boot with XP, in which case you will have a choice of which operating system to boot into. 2. Maybe. You need to check on the various programs' websites to see if the
