can t dual boot back xp need

Can't dual boot back to xp need help

Ok last night i made a Partion for xp & vista but now when i go to disk management and try an make my xp Partion active , i can't shows the Partion but says unknown Partion..

You should use 3rd party partitioning software--I used partition magic 8. I think your problem is that you need to create 2 PRIMARY partitions. From within xp I opened PM and made a new 20 gig partition and made it primary, I named it "V" for vista. Was able to choose the new 20 gig partition during install and am now able to dual boot w/out problems.

I had the same problem as Boomer. I will try again with PM 8. I had a feeling I was going to lose the dual boot. Not that big of a deal, just the loss of time :-/ Thats why its a hobby and not a big deal. Anyway thanks for the hot tip. -- system: AMD 64 3000, MSI k8t Neo,1.5 gig RAM, WD Raptor SATA 74G HD, eVGA 6800 GT, SB live value, Vista beta 2 64 bit/XP Pro 64 bit... Thanks, BJBB

I have a Dell laptop running vista premium with MS Works. My printer is an HP deskjet 4240. I can't use the menu commands, print preview, or even print in the daatabase or spreadsheet. Everything is fine in Word. The printer works fine with all other programs. If I set the default printer on the MS XPS documet writer I can use all the menu commands but I still can't print. The driver is current, I've tried uninstalling & re installing both Works & the printer; system restore; spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Dell and still I have not found a solution. Device manager shows everything is working fine. HELP!!! I'm totally stumped!

Now that you mention that I remember discovering the same thing when I used the Vista backup utility once, which is why I no longer use it.

you can but......
if the partition on the raid-0 spans the entire size of the raid-0 combo you have to shrink the partition the a bit smaller that the size of the disk you want to restore to.
I found out the ugly way that the restore wants at least as much diskspace as it had when the backup was made. Even if that amount was not totally used.

Windows Vista
